Rural Broadband Initiative - Inactive
The Department of
Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service has initiated a Broadband
Pilot Grant Program that will provide funding for the
establishment of Rural Broadband Services in local communities.
PMCentral Systems proposes to use the funds for the
establishment of a community center with a minimum of 10
computers with reliable high-speed Internet access that will be
operated free of charge to the community, and to additionally
offer residential and business service to the community and
social services organizations.

Over the coming days,
representatives from PMCentral Systems will be visiting the
communities that are eligible for such services, and who by
virtue of their community
support of PMCentral Systems' plan to build and operate the
community center free of charge make such an endeavor feasible.
PMCentral Systems is pleased
to be involved in this community effort and will be deploying
these systems and services with local members of the community.
The following presentation will give local community members an
idea of the proposal and the benefits that may be derived from
the availability of Rural Broadband Services that will be
offered free of charge at the community center.

Each of the communities
served by this program will have a phenomenal opportunity to
become a part of one of the largest technological expansions in
history. The community centers will offer technical support,
training and the means of getting involved in e-Commerce as both
consumers as well as starting Internet-based businesses.
Educational and academic
resources that are available via the Internet offer exciting
opportunities for rural residents and businesses to continue
their education and also become certified in technology-based
programs.

PMCentral Systems Role
PMCentral Systems' role will
focus primarily on establishing the free community center
services. These will include a minimum of 10 workstations that
will offer free high-speed access to the Internet, in addition,
the community centers will also offer training on the computers,
their operation, networks, switches, and all facets of Web
design and Website creation and maintenance.
The secondary purpose is to
create and maintain community bulletin board services, and to
offer service to the public library, law and fire safety
enforcement agencies, medical facilities, educational facilities
(including elementary, middle and high schools), and finally to
residences and businesses in the service coverage area of the
community.
UPDATE: PMCentral Systems was the
only California bidder during the last round for which we
applied, but no grant award was made to our state. Depending on
future availability of funds in the program, we may re-bid for
central valley licenses.
